Our main research area is the electronic spectroscopy and photochemistry of transition metal compounds. We try to understand the properties of inorganic and organometallic materials in excited electronic states. Experimental information from spectroscopic data (mainly absorption, luminescence, Raman) is used for the characterization of chemical bonds and intermolecular interactions and for understanding different types of excited states and their photochemical reactivities. Our experimental results often reveal surprising and counterintuitive effects, which we analyze with advanced theoretical models in order to gain detailed insight. The long-term goal is to contribute to the development of molecular optical materials with tunable properties. retourner au début de la page / back to the top of the page

Survol
Summary
A wide variety of solids (single crystals, doped host crystals and glasses) can be studied in the wavelength range from 300 nm to 2000 nm, at temperatures between 4 K and 400 K, and under external pressures up to 60 kbar.
Theoretical models are used to calculate spectra and the comparison with experimental results leads to quantitative parameters. Established theoretical models (CASSCF, DFT) are also used to complement the detailed study of the electronic structure of our compounds.
