During the last decade I have purposely focused on the creative side of my academic career at the University of Montreal. I have composed, performed and recorded many original compositions as well as classic jazz standards with different musicians in various contexts. The compositions borrow from the hard bop, modal and latin jazz idioms. My most important date has been a duo recording with bassist Michel Donato entitled De Stefano/Donato, jazz duo. I also have had the opportunity to record some of my compositions with Turbulence (a sextet) during a live concert for Radio-Canada at Maison de la culture Frontenac. I find that playing solo guitar is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding aspects of jazz guitar playing and is probably one of the most difficult to develop. I have included some of my solo guitar recordings for your enjoyment.
