JAZZ EAR TRAINING

It is a well-known fact that there are not as many useful pedagogical tools (recordings, texts, exercises) for jazz ear-training as there are for jazz improvisation, jazz history or jazz arranging. Over the years I have developed some very specific jazz ear-training exercises for all chord types, including dictation exercises for slash chords, modal chords, progressions, and melodies. Students should clearly understand the theory behind these various structures before attempting the exercises which are primarily intended for intermediate and advanced jazz majors. I have also included herein a course syllabus for Jazz Ear-Training I & Jazz Ear-Training II offered at the University of Montreal. All these are available through my correspondence lessons.
